paintings of Johannes Vermeer, whose paintings have been often cited to have a photographic quality to them; Jenison, spurred by the book Secret Knowledge by British artist David Hockney and Vermeer&#8217;s Camera by British architecture professor Philip Steadman, theorizes that Vermeer potentially used a camera obscura to guide his painting technique.<br \/>\nJenison has an eureka-moment of using a mirror to monitor parts of the picture: by placing a small \u201ccomparator\u201d-mirror above the canvas at a 45 degree angle, he is able to view parts of the real scene and the canvas simultaneously, and obtain a precise color match.<br \/>\nJenison becomes convinced that he is able to reproduce The Music Lesson as a painting with this technique, and starts to physically reconstruct the original scene in his studio. Once the scene is set and is visually identical to the original painting, Jenison sits down and meticulously begins to paint<br \/>\nusing his optical lens-mirror device.<\/p>\n<p>Bron: Wikipedia &gt; <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tim%27s_Vermeer\">Wikipedia Vermeer<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Op het technische vlak is de film interessant wat betreft de combinatie van optische lenzen en spiegels die Vermeer zou kunnen hebben gebruikt tijdens het schilderen van de Muziekles. Artistiek komt de levenloze kopie van Jenison bij lange na niet in de buurt bij een originele Vermeer. Het is te veel \u201cpainting by numbers\u201d, te veel in \u00e9\u00e9n keer dekkende verf, waar Vermeer juist schilderde in meerdere dunne doorschijnende glacis-lagen, waarmee hij dat mystieke licht in zijn schilderijen kreeg.
